TRAVELLE SERVES UP MEDITERRANEAN TACOS AND PUNCH BOWLS AT NEWLY LAUNCHED SISTER CONCEPT 'ELLE ON THE RIVER'
Chicago's Langham Hotel welcomes guests to a new casual, waterfront restaurant opening on Thursday, May 15

CHICAGO; May 12, 2014

Travelle at The Langham, Chicago announces the launch of their new outdoor sister concept, Elle on the River, on Thursday, May 15. The waterfront restaurant, located between the State and Wabash bridges, invites lunch and dinner guests to casually nosh on Mediterranean-style tacos and sip from flavored cocktail punch bowls while enjoying its spectacular city views.

Tacos and Treats
Chef Tim Graham puts a unique twist on Travelle's traditional Mediterranean cuisine by crafting Elle's menu around a house-made chickpea flatbread, which hosts a selection of four specialty tacos. Taco fillings include: Piri Piri Chicken served with pepper aioli, mahon cheese, and pickles; Calabrian Mahi Mahi featuring lemon cream and quinoa slaw; Crispy Chickpeas with hummus and herb tabouli; and Chermoula Braised Pork Shoulder topped with radish tzatziki. For diners looking to enjoy a lighter taco alternative, all fillings can be served on a bed of greens.

Adding a blast of heat to the menu, Elle on the River features three levels of house made hot sauces that gently reference Mediterranean flavors. The levels include: Mild "Rookie," a vibrant green sauce made with roasted tomatillo, jalapeno, garlic, onion, cilantro, coriander and a smidge of cardamom; Medium "Tabasco Lovers," inspired by the town of Bezerta, a bright orange sauce made with cinnamon, harissa, onion and a whisper of rose-water; and Hot "Blazing," inspired by Shatta, an Egyptian spicy condiment, a dark brown sauce comprised of garlic, jalapeno, thai chili, parsley, cilantro, black pepper, cumin and tomato.

Chef Graham pays nod to guests with a sweet tooth by offering a variety of Ellies, a combination of mousse, custard, and cake-based dessert served in a cylinder to-go container with a lid and mini-wooden spoon. Ellies are available in several flavors including: German Chocolate Cake; Orange Creamsicle; and Strawberry Shortcake.

Waterside Sips
From white and red wines to bubbles and beer, the beverage menu, led by Beverage Manager Erik Boyd, features a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. However, guests are encouraged to take note of the menu's stars – flavored cocktail punch bowls and house made sodas. Perfect for sipping on a warm summer afternoon or evening, Elle's punch bowls are mixed and served tableside in a gallon dispenser, allowing guests to serve themselves from the spigot. The boozy punches are offered in a variety of flavors including: Down by the River with Bacardi Oakheart, raspberry, cherry and banana; Elle a Noir with Grey Goose, cherry noir, strawberry, basil and peach; and Better Than a Bradford made with Tanqueray, watermelon, lemon and basil. For those looking to add a bit of sparkle to their cocktail, Prosecco can be added to any flavored punch bowl.

From the Inside, Out
Elle on the River is thoughtfully designed by London-based Richmond Designing Hospitality to bring the inside outside. Working in conjunction with The Langham, the Richmond team carefully selected and bespoke pieces of Elle to compliment the building's façade and external space. Using light fabrics and materials influenced by the iconic Mies van der Rohe building, Elle features individual table lanterns and low level floor lighting with glass screens and planters to create an intimate experience alongside the sparkling river view.

Contributing to the casual ambiance are personal jam boxes placed in four lounge seating spaces located in each corner of the restaurant. The individual music stations include pre-loaded playlists from which guests can choose their favorite tune and enjoy in their specific dining area.
